Where beer is King

An independent micropub specialising in good beer.

Open since 2014, we’re a friendly, neighbourhood pub aiming to give everyone a warm welcome. Based in Coronation Buildings, Daybrook, directly opposite the Home Ales Brewery building, we are steeped in Nottingham’s brewing history.

With the feel of a parlour bar - like being in someone’s front room - conversation is king, along with the beer, of course. Dog and family friendly.

Serving an ever-changing selection of cask and craft beers, our focus is on quality from independent breweries and suppliers near and far.

Our large, traditional cellar gives us plenty of space to keep variety across the taps. We aim for the perfect range of real ales across the four hand pumps including pale, amber and dark beers. The four keg lines are for something different such as strong IPAs, sours, imperial darks and lagers.

We also have traditional ciders/perries, wine, gin and soft drinks - there’s something for everyone!

Next Meetup: March 12, 2026

Going strong since 2023, Book and A Beer is an informal book social run in partnership with Tim Beeden (ex-BUK bookshop in Arnold).

Tim picks the books, we read them and then meet up in the pub to chat about them. No tricky questions, no formal talks - just chatting with other readers over a beer (or other drink of choice!).

Oh and Lucy usually rustles up a snack inspired by the book! Regularly attracting 20+ people, it's proving to be a winning formula.

Customer Feedback

  • A superb local, authentic ale house. A friendly, cosy place for an excellent beer at a superb price. Wonderful atmosphere. Open fire. An ale house as they used to be.

  • Wonderful cosey micropub. My husband loves the beer here and I love its warm atmosphere. Friendly staff and the decor is also very unique.

  • Fantastic beers, as usual Great little micropub Really friendly staff and customers. Recently attended a history talk at the pub and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The pub really tries hard with community engagement. For such a small pub, there's a lot going on!

  • Excellent little pub in Arnold with a great selection of well kept ever changing cask and keg. The Redwillow bitter I had yesterday was possibly the finest pint of bitter I’ve had. Cheese and onion cobs are a fantastic accompaniment to the pub tapas. Great staff and a great atmosphere.
