The Abdication Micropub

The Abdication

Where beer is King

An independent micropub specialising in good beer.

Open since 2014, we’re a friendly, neighbourhood pub aiming to give everyone a warm welcome. Based in Coronation Buildings, Daybrook, directly opposite the Home Ales Brewery building, we are steeped in Nottingham’s brewing history.

With the feel of a parlour bar - like being in someone’s front room - conversation is king, along with the beer, of course. Dog and family friendly.

Events Pub location Get in touch

Serving an ever-changing selection of cask and craft beers, our focus is on quality from independent breweries and suppliers near and far.

Our large, traditional cellar gives us plenty of space to keep variety across the taps. We aim for the perfect range of real ales across the four hand pumps including pale, amber and dark beers. The four keg lines are for something different such as strong IPAs, sours, imperial darks and lagers.

We also have traditional ciders/perries, wine, gin and soft drinks - there’s something for everyone!

2024 - Celebrating 10 years!

This time in 2014, Matt was wrestling with planning applications, building regs & licensing information, while spending quite a lot time on eBay buying up breweriana! As you might guess, there were various times when he was tempted to throw in the towel and give up on the whole idea. But we know now it was worth persevering, as we have a wonderful wee pub, with a solid reputation for cracking beer, an amazing gang of customers and lots of fun-filled evenings to remember 10 years later!

And we plan to celebrate making it to 10 all through 2024. Ten is the theme for the year, by showcasing 10 of our favourite breweries and a big old shindig on Sat 24th August. Save the date with more deets to come.

Thank you for playing a BIG part in getting us here.

Matt & Lucy xx

Real Ale at Home

Enjoy a pint at home too - beer to take away is available from the pub. Pop in to see what’s on the taps each week.

There’s 20% off pints to take away and if you don’t have your own growler, we have a range of beer containers from 2 to 8 pints which we can fill for you, no problem.

We also have a carefully selected range of small pack beer in the fridge to complement the draught options.

Real ale to takeaway

Customer Feedback

  • A very welcoming and unique, small but hidden, jewel right next(across the street) to the old Home Brewery. The place is full of people most of the time. The bartenders and staff are welcoming and there is plenty of novelty waiting for the wanderer inside. An overall beautiful atmosphere and something one may call the authenticity of the city.

  • Smashing micropub always 4 good beers Couple of ciders and wine. Soft drinks are also available. Quiz night and other themed nights are on Through the month.

  • This pub could not be more friendly. A lovely community pub which is very dog friendly. Fairly priced real ale and cider is carefully chosen and if you are lucky the owner’s home brew may also be on offer. Be prepared for a conversation with regular visitors.

  • Wonderful micro pub ran by a lovely couple. Great beers and nibbles!
